There has been an ongoing argument over grading participation in a Physical Education class. I believe that it needs to be graded because that's what I want my students to do in class is participate. I'm wanting to know your thoughts.
I agree. I don't know how you can separate participation from P.E. What else would you grade them on if they are not actually doing the activities in P.E.? My mom is a P.E./Health teacher in Umatilla and she has them do make up work outside the class if they are absent. She gives them a form, which has to be signed by their parents, saying that they performed 30 min. of exercise outside the class. If during class a student refuses to participate, she has them write a report on the game the rest of the class is playing.
